§ 28-365. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Committee means the electric system committee comprised of two members of the council as established in section 28-364.

    Consumer means any person who requests electrical service from the city or, any person holding legal or equitable title to real property and fixtures which receive electrical service from the city or, any leaseholder who under the terms of the lease is obligated to purchase and pay for electrical service and who receives electrical service from the city or, any person who receives a benefit from electrical service provided by the city.

    Distribution wires means those wires, cables or other electrical conductors which serve as the primary means of distributing electrical current throughout the city, whether above or below the earth, together with any supporting cables.

    Electric system means the municipal electric utility operated by the city under the provisions of this article which provides electrical service to consumers.

    Inspector means the person designated as an electrical inspector by section 28-379.

    Meter means a device designed or intended to measure and register the electrical current which passes through it.

    Service wire means that electrical conductor which supplies electrical current to any building and which is run between the distribution wires and the meter, whether above or below the earth, together with any supporting cables.

    Superintendent means the superintendent of the electric system appointed in section 28-366.
