§ 103-24. Beams in walls.

  • The ends of all floor, ceiling, or roof beams, entering a party or firewall from opposite sides, shall be separated by at least four inches of solid masonry. Such separation may be obtained by corbeling the wall, or staggering the beams, but no wall shall be corbeled more than two inches for this purpose. The ends of all wooden beams that enter walls shall be cut to a bevel to make them self-releasing.
