§ 8-89. Membership of department.

The department shall consist of the chief of the department, assistant chiefs, and a volunteer company of as many volunteers as the council shall fix, from time to time. The membership of the volunteer department shall be subject to the approval of the council. Any citizen of the community, meaning within the city and the surrounding area, over 18 years of age, shall be eligible for membership.
