§ 8-87. Appointment of officers.

A fire chief and a first and second assistant chief shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council. Said appointments shall be made at the first regular council meeting of each even-numbered year by the elected mayor and newly reorganized council. Vacancies or replacements for the above-named officers shall be appointed by the same procedure for the balance of the term. The fire chief shall appoint any other officers as deemed necessary subject to the approval of the council.
