§ 28-375. Repairs and maintenance.

  • (a)

    All consumers shall keep their meter entrance, equipment, and fixtures in good repair at their own expense and prevent all unnecessary waste of electric current. If a consumer fails or neglects or refuses to repair a meter entrance, the city shall repair the entrance and charge the consumer for the cost of repairs, this charge to be due and payable upon presentation.

    (b)

    In case any service wire or other equipment between the pole and meter socket is broken or out of repair, the consumer shall notify the clerk and the city shall repair or replace the service wire at the expense of the city; provided, however, that if a service wire, meter, or meter socket is damaged by the negligence or willful act of the consumer, the consumer's family, servants, employees, or agents, the city shall repair the service wire, meter, or meter socket and shall charge the consumer for the cost of repairs, this charge to be due and payable upon presentation.

    (c)

    If any consumer fails or refuses to pay any charges incurred under this section, the council may order the electric current shut off from the property supplied by the service that was repaired or replaced in accordance with state law and administrative rules.
