§ 28-29. Customer deposits.

  • There shall be required from every customer served a deposit in the amount set by the council intended to guarantee the payment of bills for service, in addition to any additional deposit required by section 28-25.

    (1)

    The deposit shall be refunded when the customer discontinues utility services by vacating the premises provided all service charges have been paid in full.

    (2)

    The deposit may be refunded if the customer is not delinquent in payments for one year. Should the customer become delinquent, the deposit shall be paid and the one-year time period will begin anew.

    (3)

    A new or additional deposit may be required upon 30-day written notice of the need for such a new or additional deposit in any case where a deposit has been refunded or is found to be inadequate.
