§ 26-4. Obstructing streets.

  • (a)

    Purpose. The purpose of this chapter is to promote the safety and security of all persons in the city by ensuring that streets, alleys, and public sidewalks are unobstructed and open to access by fire, police, ambulance, and other emergency services; to promote the goal of energy conservation by providing direct access by all persons to all streets and roads of the town; and to promote the economic well-being of commercial and business establishments in the city.

    (b)

    Obstructing streets by others. No person shall, without authority or justification, obstruct any street, alley, sidewalk, or other public way, by placing, parking, standing, or stopping any motor vehicle, train, railroad car, or other object on a street, sidewalk, or other public way, with the intent to prevent or hinder the lawful use by others.
