§ 22-46. Animals.

  • No animal shall be allowed to run at-large in any park except by permission of the board. Every animal shall be deemed as running at-large unless the owner or person in control of the animal carries the animal or leads it by a leash or chain not exceeding six feet in length, or keeps it confined in or attached to a vehicle. No animal shall be allowed in any park during the dates designated each year for the annual Fourth of July celebration.

    (1)

    Horses and similar animals. Horses and similar animals may be led or ridden, into the parks provided that they are led by a bridle chain or similar confining device not in excess of six feet in length, and provided further that they shall be restricted to streets and other areas where motor vehicles are permitted.

    (2)

    Hitching to trees. No horse or other animal shall be hitched or tied to any tree or shrub or in such a manner as to result in injury to city property.

    (3)

    Clean up. All owners and persons in control of any animal shall clean up after the animal.
